Snakes on a...Petrified Rock

I read in the newspaper about scientists reporting the discovery of a fossil of a snake with a pelvis-related bone for legs! The fossil suggests that snakes evolved on land since they were found on land versus a water basin, etc...Nor was the area previously a region of water either. It's been land the whole time.
